Difficulty: Intermediate (B1)
Audio
Jason: I can’t believe you just quit without telling me first. What else aren’t you telling me?
Kate: I just didn’t want you to try to talk me out of it.
Jason: So where does this leave you and me? Am I ever going to see you again?
Kate: You’re blowing this out of proportion, Jason. Quitting my job has nothing to do with you. I just need to get my priorities straight.
Jason: Am I one of those priorities? I’m getting a bit fed up with you having to study all of the time.
Kate: Look, I have to put school first. I can’t afford to slack off anymore.
Jason: Well, if you aren’t going to have any time for me, just say it like it is.
Kate: I’ll have more time to hang out in the summer, Jason.
Jason: In the summer you’ll be moving back home with your parents. You’ll need to get a job and save money for next year.
Kate: True, but you can come and visit anytime. My mom already said you could stay in the spare room.
Jason: I just don’t think we’re on the same page, Kate. My life is all about working and having fun. You’re all wrapped up in school.
Kate: What about you? You’re still planning on going to college in September, aren’t you?
Jason: After watching you try to juggle your time, I don’t think so. To be honest, I’m thinking more and more about Italy.
Kate: Italy? What are you going to do there? Serve pizzas?
Jason: Sure, why not? There’s nothing keeping me here now, is there? [Jason hangs up on Kate.]
