Concierge: Good morning. How can I help you?
Ellen: Well, we’ve been looking through a lot of the tourist pamphlets you have here in the hotel. It’s our first time in New York, and there are so many tourist attractions we don’t know where to begin.
Concierge: Well, for your first day, I’d recommend you take a double-decker bus tour of Manhattan.
Ellen: How long do the tours last?
Concierge: They last about 2–3 hours and run every 30 minutes. The tour stops at about 40 major attractions in the city and you can board at any of these stops.
Ellen: What’s the fare?
Concierge: It’s $49, but the same ticket allows you to reboard for free for two consecutive days. Then you can get an idea of which attractions you’d like to spend more time at during your stay.
Ellen: That sounds like a great idea for this morning.
Concierge: In the afternoon, you might like to stroll through Central Park or go window-shopping
along 5th Avenue and browse in some of the beautiful boutiques.
Martin: What do you suggest for the evening?
Concierge: You might like a scenic cruise of New York Harbor. There are panoramic views of the
Statue of Liberty and the city skyline. You could also take a ride to the top of the Empire State Building. The views are breathtaking from there.
Ellen: Well, that sounds like a good first day.
Concierge: I’ll give you some brochures of galleries and museums to look over so you can decide how you’d like to spend the next few days.
Ellen: Do these brochures give the hours of operation and the admission fees?
Concierge: Yes, they do.
Ellen: Thank you so much for your help.
