Every city has its own tourist attractions. But why choose between all the places you want to see when they are all in the same country? Mexico City is nothing short of fascinating, that is for certain. From the iconic pyramids of Teotihuacan to the artistic monuments Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros left every corner of our big city will seem like a hidden discovery.

For a detailed list of the best places in Mexico City, read on!

1. Teotihuacan

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico City is the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan. The site is located about 30 miles northeast of the city center and is home to the largest pyramid in the world, the Pyramid of the Sun. Teotihuacan was once a major city with a population of over 150,000 people. It was abandoned around 600 AD for unknown reasons. Today, the site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico City. And you can also try a lot of Mexican food and dishes that the Aztecs used to eat.

2. Chapultepec Park

Chapultepec Park is a must-see when visiting Mexico City. This massive park is home to a variety of attractions, including the Chapultepec Zoo, the Museum of Anthropology, and the Chapultepec Castle. There is also a large lake in the park, where you can go for a paddle boat ride or just enjoy the views.

The park is huge,  it is at least twice the size of central park in New York so you could easily spend a whole day exploring it. And, since it’s located in the middle of Mexico City, it’s easy to get to. So, if you’re looking for a great place to spend some time outdoors while in Mexico City, be sure to add Chapultepec Park to your list!

3. House of Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo was one of Mexico’s most famous artists, and her house is now a museum. It’s located in the neighborhood where she grew up, and it’s full of her personal belongings and art.

The house is also very colorful, just like Kahlo’s artwork. Visitors can see her bedroom, kitchen, and even the room where she died.

There’s also a garden full of native plants, and a shop where you can buy Mexican handicrafts. If you’re interested in Mexican culture or art, the House of Frida Kahlo is a place you shouldn’t miss.

This place is very crowded and you need a reservation to enter, here you can buy your tickets.

4. Xochimilco

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience when visiting Mexico City, then you need to head to Xochimilco. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a network of canals and floating gardens, and is the perfect place to relax and take in the scenery. You can even hop on a traditional wooden boat, known as a trajinera, and enjoy a leisurely ride down the canals.

5. Downtown CDMX

There are many places to see in Mexico City, but Downtown CDMX is definitely one of the highlights. This area is home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, and the Aztec Temple. Downtown CDMX is also a great place to shop, eat, and people watch. You can find everything from traditional Mexican handicrafts to luxury brands in the shops here. And when it comes to food, you’ll find everything from street food to gourmet restaurants. Whether you’re looking for history, culture, or just a good time, Downtown CDMX is definitely worth a visit.
